Audi is adding a five-door model to its A1 range that will be released in early 2012. It will be available with six engines: three petrol engines and three diesel engines with hp numbers between 86hp and 185hp.
The exterior of the A1 Sportback is basically the same as the three-door model except with the addition of two extra doors. The length and wheelbase are identical to the three-door car, but it is a millimeter wider and taller. The lightest A1 weighs in at 1,065kg (2,347.92lbs).
The interior is equally similar to the three-door A1. However, the A1 Sportback can be ordered with five seats, if the buyer desires. Head and shoulder room have been increased by a millimeter in the Sportback.
The A1 Sportback is available with six four-cylinder engines ranging from the base 1.2 liter TFSI with 86hp to the most powerful 1.4 liter TFSI with 185hp, there is also a 1.4 liter TFSI with 122hp. There are also three diesel engines with 90hp, 105hp and 143hp. Audi is also offering its seven-speed S tronic automatic in the the either version of the 1.4 TFSI and the 1.6 TDI. Depending on the engine, there are also five-speed and six-speed manual transmissions available.
Audi is offering a lot of optional equipment on the A1, including standard things like larger wheels and luxury color options. Audi is also offering MMI navigation with a 6.5in LCD.
The A1 Sportback will debut with the 1.2 TFSI at €16,950, and the 1.6 TDI costs €19,050.
