has begun production of the A3 Sedan at its new factory in Györ, Hungary. The factory is Audi's completely new factory in Hungary in 20 years cost €900 million and includes a press shop, body shop, paint shop and assembly line. The factory has an annual capacity of 125,000 cars. Audi CEO Rupert Stadler and Hungarian prime Minister Viktor Orban attended the opening.

Audi Hungaria has developed into an important pillar of our worldwide production network. We are thus consistently pursuing our growth strategy and strengthening our international competitiveness," said Stadler.

The factory uses advanced energy saving features like using 50% less energy during the painting process and creating 70% fewer solvents. Kinetic energy in the press shop is recovered and stored to power other portions of the factory.

The factory employs 2,100 people and has its own training center, and Audi now has over 9,000 employees in Hungary.

The A3 Sedan will go on sale in Europe this fall and be launched in the United States and China in the spring 2014.

The A3 Sedan will be the first time that an Audi vehicle and all of its components are built in Hungary.
