In the eight months of the year, Audi has sold 961,000 cars worldwide, up 13% over the previous year, and BMW has sold 963,110 cars, up 7.8% over the previous year. At this time last year, the gap between the two automakers' unit sales was 40,513 cars. Audi's goal had been to beat BMW in sales by 2020, but it is looking increasingly possible that it may do it this year.
