Audi Q5 Revised with Subtle Exterior Redesign and More Efficiency

Slideshow
The air intakes have been slightly reformed

Audi has revealed very slight updates to the exterior of the Q5 and are announcing the new hybrid model. All models also have electromechanical steering now as well.

The exterior changes are minor. It has redesigned headlights with slightly changed LED running lights and optional xenon headlights. Audi beveled the engines of the single frame grill and modified the air inlets on the front bumper slightly.

Audi added more chrome trim to the interior especially on the steering wheel control stalks, ignition key and instruments. The MMI now uses four buttons, and Audi claims that the seat heating and air conditioning works more efficiently

The revised Q5 will be available with six available engines. The 2.0 TDI is the base engine with 143hp or an optional version with 177hp. The 3.0 TDI offers 245hp. Both of these engines were available before but power has been given a slight boost over the previous versions. The petrol engines are the 2.0 TFSI with 225hp and the new supercharged 3.0 TFSI with 272hp that replaces the outgoing turbo 3.2l engine.

The base engine comes with a six-speed manual transmission. An eight-speed Tiptronic is available on the 2.0 TFSI and standard on the 3.0 TFSI. The seven-speed S Tronic is standard on the 3.0 TDI and optional on the 177hp version of the 2.0 TDI. All Q5's except for the the base 2.0 TDI, which is front-wheel drive, come standard with Quattro all-wheel drive.

Finally, the new Q5 Hybrid Quattro uses the 2.0 TFSI with 211hp mated to a 54hp electric motor for a total peak power output of 245hp and 354lb-ft of torque. The hybrid accelerates to 100km/h in 7.1 seconds with an electronically-limited top speed of 225km/h. It has a maximum pure electric range of 3km. The car consumes 6.9l/100km of petrol. That means that the hybrid saves 0.7l/100km over the regular 2.0 TFSI. The hybrid comes exclusively with an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive.

The Q5 comes standard with 17in wheels or 18in wheels on models with 225hp or more, and 20in wheels are optional. It is also offering optional hill hold and S Line sport suspension.

With the minor changes, Audi increased the price of the Q5 by €150 making the new base price €39,900, and it will be on sale later this summer.
