Audi revealed the official look of the new A5 DTM car a few weeks ago, but at the time the car was still covered in camouflage. Finally, Audi has revealed the car in its various liveries that it will race with during the first DTM round at Hockenheim on April 29. Audi debuted the cars at its preseason test at Valencia.
Four teams will be competing with the A5 DTM this season with eight cars with liveries sponsored by Red Bull, TV Movie, E-Postbrief, Playboy, Schaeffler, Auto Test and Audi Ultra.
Mattias Ekström will use the same dark blue Red Bull livery as last year, and the Timo Scheider is sporting Auto Test. They drive for Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline.
Rahel Frey wears E-Postbrief and Computer Bild Spiele sponsorship, and Adrien Tambay has the white Audi Ultra car. They race for Audi Sport Team Abt.
Miguel Molina will use the same dark blue Red Bull livery as Ekström. Mike Rockenfellar's car wears a Schaeffler Group yellow and green livery. Audi Sport Team Phoenix is their team.
Edoardo Mortara has Playboy sponsorship. Filipe Albuquerque wears TV Movie magazine sponsorship. Their team is Audi Sport Team Rosberg.
"Without the support of our partners it wouldn’t be possible to field a total of eight cars under a factory commitment in such a high-caliber racing series. In addition, they are adding color. I think that our designers in collaboration with our partners have managed to get very beautiful cars off the ground. I’m convinced that the fans will feel similarly and that the sporty elegance of the Audi A5 and the unique shape of the coupe will impress in the DTM as well,” said Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich.
Audi driver Martin Tomczyk won the drivers' championship last year. Mercedes driver Paul di Resta won in 2010.
