The Bahraini Government says that there will be no problems during the Grand Prix next week. Race organizer Zayed Alzayani has already welcomed the teams to Bahrain and believes that there will be no problems during the race.
Alzayani says that Bahrain was not coming to force teams to race. According to Alzayani, the Bahraini race organizers were instrumental in canceling the race last year. They did it because the last year the climate in the country was not appropriate to race.
"But this year we are 100 per cent confident that we are good enough to host it. It was our choice last year and it is our choice this year. But they [the critics] don't seem to mention that: they say the race was canceled, but canceled by who? To me that is significant," said Alzayani.
He said that the organizers have looked at the situation and made the decision to go through with the race because there is support for the race by people in the country.
"They [the protestors] are not big numbers and those that matter have not said they are threatening to destroy the race. And these are the people who can pull hundreds or thousands of people [together]. But these 15 guys [who are protesting] can stop people? I seriously doubt it," said Alzayani.
