Brussels: most congested city in Europe

In a study undergone by navigation systems brand TomTom Brussels has been named the most congested city in Europe. The Belgian capital registered an increase in traffic with a growth of 1.2 per cent t hold on to top spot in TomTom’s annual traffic report.

In the list Brussels is followed by Warsaw in Poland and London in the United Kingdom. In the opposite side of the list is the German city of Cologne with only 18.9% of its roads congested.

In this study cities in Spain, Switzerland, Norway, Hungary, Ireland or the Czech Republic have been named the most stress-free, with each country featuring only one city in the top 50.

TomTom’s annual traffic report is based on the company’s real travel times database. Over the years the company has been researching and tracking the road speeds with the help of millions of worldwide users.
