General Motors has been on a push recently to make its models more global. It is a lot easier to design one vehicle and then tailor it to specific markets, then to design a different model for every region. It has shown this with the Cruze compact sedan, and we reported last week that it will sell the Colorado pickup truck this way as well.
Chevrolet is teasing a picture of the new Trailblazer that it says will be sold this way as a global vehicle. All we know right now is that it will be a mid-size, probably five passenger SUV. Chevrolet says that the new Trailblazer will be unveiled at the Dubai International Motor Show November 10-14, 2011.
The Trailblazer started as a trim level on the Chevy Blazer in 1999. In 2002, it became the name of the entire model line. The Trailblazer, and earlier the Blazer, has served as Chevrolet's mid-size SUVs since 1983. Historically, they have used the same platform as the contemporary Chevrolet pickup truck.
