While the Qoros GQ3 will not be officially unveiled until the Geneva Motor Show in March and go on sale in Europe in 2014, the company continues to tell more about the car ahead of its debut. It is aiming the car to be a high quality C-segment sedan with top crash test results. The company has the burden of trying to legitimize Chinese cars in Europe.
“During the development of the Qoros GQ3, we directed all our efforts towards the needs and expectations of today’s young, aspirational customers. They are very sensitive about design and quality, are highly sophisticated users of technology, and insist on the very best safety standards," said Volker Steinwascher, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board at Qoros.
The company's lead designer is Gert Hildebrand who penned the original BMW Mini CooperMINI (BMW) CooperGermany, 2006 > present7 photos
. He led teams in Munich and Shanghai to create the sedan. The car is meant to have short overhangs and a coupe-like shape to show a sporty demeanor with a total length of 1839mm. The headlights have horizontal LEDs mounted at their top. The cars will ride on 19in wheels.
The interior is meant to appear to have a floating dashboard with an 8in touchscreen. Most of the switches have been replaced by functions on the touch screen. It also offers cloud connectivity and satellite navigation. The company says that it developed the software for the system was developed in-house.
Qoros is aiming the car to get a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
The company is still not discussing engines for the car.
