The FIA World Motorsport Council has released the official calendar for the 2014 Formula 1 season. Unfortunately, there are still three provisional races on 22-race calendar, which means that the schedule could still change somewhat.
In addition to the new schedule the WMSC agreed with Formula 1 Group on a new way to appoint single-supplier tire and fuel categories in F1. The FIA will appoint a body that will have the right to approve or veto tire and fuel single suppliers. The Commercial Rights Holder will be entitled to the commercial negotiations. Pirelli will be grandfathered in and have automatic approval as the single tire supplier in Formula 1.
In regards to the 2014 schedule, the three provisional rounds are the Korean Grand Prix, Grand Prix of America in New Jersey and Grand Prix of Mexico.
Earlier, a provisional schedule for the 2014 season was released. The changes from earlier provisional calendar: Grand Prix of Malaysia moved forward one week from March 23 to March 30.
Grand Prix of Bahrain replaces Grand Prix of China on April 6, and the Grand Prix of China moves to April 20.
Grand Prix of Korea moved to April 27 and now listed at a provisional round.
The Grand Prix of America in New Jersey is listed as a provisional race for June 1. This is possible the most interesting inclusion because Bernie Ecclestone previously said that the race would not be on the calendar because the organizers could not come up with the money. The organizers replied that they had until December to pay its fee to Formula 1.
The Grand Prix of Canada is moved forward a week to June 8.
The Grand Prix of Russia in Sochi moves back two weeks to October 5.
The Grand Prix of Japan moves forward one week to October 12.
The Grand Prix of USA at the Circuit of the Americas moves back one week to November 9.
The Grand Prix of Mexico moves forward one week to November 16 and is considered a provisional race.
