on January 10 at the factory in Detroit. Chrysler Chairman Sergio Marchionne and SRT President Ralph Gilles presented the car to Scott Thomas who won the auction for the car at the Barrett-Jackson Orange County Auction.

He paid $300,000 for the car, but the car's actual suggested price is $97,395, plus a $1,995 destination fee. However, all of the money went to the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer.

The new Viper will not arrive at dealers until February.

After delivering the car, Chrysler unveiled a plaque that says, "Today, we are a real car company again.” That is a quote from Gilles about building the new Viper that he said during the car's debut.

Bringing the Viper back gives 150 employees their jobs back. The cars are basically hand built by the workers at Chrysler's Conner Avenue Assembly Plant. It is the only factory at which the Viper has ever been built.
