For its 20th anniversary, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is celebrating itself. This year's festival will look back on the great cars and events of the last 20 years and invite fan favorites back.
Festival organizers are not giving away too much information yet, but they say that they are inviting back cars from the US that have not been at the show for years and reuniting famous cars with their drivers. In a look towards the future, the event will also display the Bloodhound Land Speed Record car a few days before it is shipped to South Africa for its record attempt.
Goodwood plans to renew some of the buildings at the Top Paddock and Forest Rally Stage for this year. They are also creating a specific area for motorcycles at this year's festival. The Goodwood Action Sports Arena and Aviation Exhibition will also be enlarged for this year.
"I really can’t believe that we’ve been staging the Festival of Speed for 20 years already; the time has simply flown by! I wasn’t too certain if anyone would be interested in coming along to our very first event back in 1993. We expected around 2,500 people, and over 25,000 turned up! Today the Festival attracts over 185,000 enthusiastic and knowledgeable spectators, which I just could not have imagined way back in 1993," said founder Lord March.
Next year's Goodwood Festival of Speed runs from July 5-7.
