Kubica near a return to the cockpit

In a bid to make his Formula 1 comeback Robert Kubica is due to get back behind the wheel within the next month.

Renault is confident that the Pole will be able to return to Grand Prix racing and it has assured him of a seat when he is ready.

Kubica’s manager, Daniele Morelli said he expects him to test in a simulator or car soon. He said “In October we consider that Robert can put a helmet on his head and give a message of what he is able to do.” The news follows a successful final operation on Kubica’s hand.

According to Morelli the Polish driver needs to regain fitness in the coming months.  He said “we still need nature to do its work because we have the nerves that still muct complete their recovery....it is just a question of time. Robert is a Formula 1 driver so if he can drive a Formula Reanault car, he can drive an F1 car.”

Clearly this is good news for Formula 1. Kubica has been widely touted as one of the best drivers in Formula 1, and Renault will be hoping he can take them back to the front next year.
