and Bowler have signed an official brand partnership agreement for the first time since Bowler began producing high performance tuned off-road vehicles based on Land Rovers in the mid 80s. Bowler's trucks will now carry "Powered by Land Rover" badges. It will also get broader access to Land Rover parts like powertrain and chassis pieces.
Another part of the deal will allow Land Rover engineers to work with Bowler to stretch their creativity by working on Bowler's high performance parts.
"For over twenty years, Land Rover's technology has powered Bowlers on some of the toughest and most grueling off-road sporting events in the world. We're proud to have been part of Bowler's success and, just as its latest models come to market, this new formal partnership will fully acknowledge the role of Land Rover technology in Bowler's high performance all terrain cars," said Mark Cameron, Land Rover Brand Experience Director.
Bowler began producing performance trucks in the mid 80s, but rose to prominence in the mid 90s with the Bowler Wildcat. Its latest model is the EXR and EXR S that conform to the rules for FIA certified Rally Raids including the Dakar Rally. . To meet the rules, it is detuned to 300hp and 582Nm of torque. It has a six-speed manual transmission with mechanical front, center and rear differentials.
The EXR S is the road-legal version of the truck, but the engine produces 550hp and 705Nm of torque. It weighs 1800kg and gets to 100km/h in 4.2 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. It uses the same six-speed automatic and electronic differential as the Range Rover Sport. It costs £155,000. The EXR S is not on sale yet but will have its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 28.
