is running its factory in Solihull, England, 24 hours a day, seven days a week to keep up with surging demand, especially in China. Unfortunately, it is also leaving many sales on the table because people do not want to wait in line.

will take customers six months to receive. Demand is so strong in China for the Range Rover that buyers are willing to pay a €60,000 fee to move their order to the top of the queue on top of the 2.8 million yuan (€338,000) base price due to China’s heavy auto import taxes.

The money is being shoveled into Jaguar Land Rover’s coffers to develop new models and new technology. However, there is no way to further increase production because the factory is running at full capacity.

The other problem is that Land Rover cannot get its Ford-built engines fast enough. While Jaguar Land Rover owns the engine, Ford in the UK still builds it under contract. A new four-cylinder engine is under development but not due until 2015.
