More 2010 F1 cars unveiled in Valencia

With the first official tests of the season starting today in Valencia, Spain, some teams chose the Spanish city to present their official cars for the season. During the weekend Toro Rosso and Renault made their presentations and today it was time to see for the first time the 2010 cars from teams Mercedes, BMW Sauber and Williams.

BMW Sauber

On Sunday BMW Sauber became the third team to officially present the 2010 car. The C29, powered by Ferrari engines, was unveiled on the Valencia circuit and is the first machine from the Swiss squad following the exit of BMW from the sport at the end of 2009.

BMW Sauber’s C29 will be driven by Pedro de la Rosa and Kamui Kobayashi and features a shark fin similar to the one used by McLaren in its new car. Retaining similar coours as the ones of the BMW era, the new Sauber will have more white space due to the lack of sponsors, which almost forced the Swiss team out of the 2010 season.

Renault Formula 1

Sunday afternoon also saw the presentation of the new Reanult’s Formula 1 team 2010 car and the confirmation of the team’s second driver. Russian pilot Vitaly Petrov will be joining Robert Kubica on the cockpit of the new R30.

The 2010 car was presented with Renault's new colours - yellow and black – after the exit of ING as main sponsor in the middle of last season. The new F1 also incorporates a similar shark fin engine cover, as those seen in the new McLaren and Sauber cars.

Mercedes GP

After last week’s outfit presentation in Stuttgart, the new Mercedes-Benz W01, that will lead the return of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, was officially presented in Valencia, as the car will make its debut in the pre-season test sessions in Valencia.

The car features a radical version of the now typical Red Bull Racing RB5-type V-nose configuration, as well as a small fin on the engine cover.

Toro Rosso

With the first official testing starting in Valencia today, Toro Rosso was one of the teams to present its new car. The STR5 is the first machine that Toro Rosso has had to produce itself, following the effective ban on customer cars in F1.

Swiss driver Sebastien Buemi and Spaniard Jaime Alguersuari will once again team-up to defend Toro Rosso’s colours on the 2010 Formula 1 season.
