The main goal of the engineering team was to enhance the performance of the car to make it exciting to drive and yet acessible to be used on a daily basis.

As any other AMG, the C63 was equipped with a hand built engine. It uses the M177 engine, a sister unit to the M178 found in the new Mercedes-AMG GTGT Gen.1AMG GT Gen.1Germany, 2014 > present11 versions

. The 3.982 cc engine with twin turbochargers produces 476hp and 510hp in the C63 SC 63 S SedanAMG C 63 S SedanGermany, 2015 > present version. This engine resulted in a significant drop in CO2 emissions to 192g/km which makes it the most efficient performance engine of its kind.

On the exterior the car received new front bumpers and bonnet, V8 biturbo bagdes and rear bumper. The sedan  weighs from 1,715 kg and the estate weighs from 1,785 kg.

In the interior AMG's sports seats can be customized in a range of different leather and trim finishes. The buttons for the AMG RIDE CONTROL, the optional active AMG performance exhaust system and the three-stage gearbox modes are grouped around the standard Touchpad controller, above which is an AMG badge and an IWC timepiece.
