has built in North America. The milestone comes just a few days before Toyota Corporation's 75th anniversary on November 3. Toyota started building cars in the US 26 years ago and estimates that in that time it has employed 365,000 people and invested $24 billion.
Toyota has 11 manufacturing plants in North America. Two are in Canada, one is in Mexico and eight are in the US. Toyota's Kentucky factory is its largest in the US and is responsible for about 9.2 million of those cars.
“Toyota’s 25 millionth vehicle signifies the tireless work of thousands of Toyota team members, hundreds of North American supplier partners, and great dealers giving their best every day. We continue to evolve as a company thanks to their commitment to build the best vehicles in the market," said Steve St. Angelo, executive vice president of Toyota North America.
Toyota predicts that 70% of the cars that it sells in the US are built there.
