Pagani Produces Documentary Examining Development of Huayra

Horacio Pagani follows the legacy of Ferrucio Lamborghini of creating an alternative to Ferrari in the world of super cars. Pagani worked for Lamborghini during the 80s and worked on the development of the Countach and the earliest portions of Diablo development. To celebrate the introduction of its second, completely new model, the Huarya, Pagani has produced a 15 minute documentary examining the car's development.

Pagani got his start in auto making when he designed a Formula 3 car that raced in his native Argentina. After leaving Lamborghini, Pagani began producing carbon fiber components for several Formula 1 teams. He used this business to fund Pagani Automobili, which opened in 1992. The Zonda did not go into production until 1999.

The original Zondas used a 6.0l Mercedes V12 with 389hp, but just five of these cars were built. It got an engine upgrade first to a 7.0l AMG-tuned V12 and then to a 7.3l V12.

The documentary starts from the car's initial concept to its design and finally its production. It took five years to design the Huarya. It examines every aspect of the car from its exterior components to its twin-turbocharged V12.

Of course the Huarya is fast, but its party piece are the four body elements that adjust independently to change the car's aerodynamics. These elements are linked to the car's steering, braking and throttle systems to maximize the car's performance no matter what it is doing.

While perhaps a tad long, if you are curious about the individual elements and the work that has gone into making the newest Pagani, the documentary is worth watching.
