Porsche will use the Nardo Ring to test future models and rent to other makers for development

Porsche will be taking over control of the Nardo Ring test track in Italy in May from its current owner Prototipo SpA. Porsche plans to improve the grounds and make it open to other manufacturers for testing.

It covers 700 hectares of land with a 6.2km long handling circuit and a 12.5km long oval.

“The Nardò proving ground with its high-speed and vehicle handling circuit ideally complements our facilities in Weissach. With the systematic development of the company in Nardò as part of Strategy 2018, Porsche is proving to be a reliable employer and business partner in Apulia as well,” said Matthias Müller, President and CEO of Porsche AG.

The track has been used by Koenigsegg and Bugatti to test the top speed of the CCR and Veyron, respectively.
