Prius Will Likely Point Way for Future of Toyota

in the late 90s, is the leading candidate for the position. This report comes from the Nikkei, Japanese business newspaper. Uchiyamada would replace Fujio Cho as chairman if he is elected. 

Uchiyamada is currently vice chairman of Toyota. Cho plans to step down and become a senior advisor to the company. He has been chairman of Toyota since 2006.

Uchiyamada lead development of the Prius in the late 90s and became vice president in 2005. He was further promoted to vice chairman in June 2012. He has worked at Toyota since 1969.
