Renault and Opel/Vauxhall have reached an agreement to continue their cooperation on the Light Commercial Vehicles segment. This will include a partnership in the development of the next generation of the Opel Vivaro and Renault Trafic models.
The cooperation between the two brands started in 1996 with the development of the first generation of the Renault Master & Opel/Vauxhall Movano Van program. A new generation of these two products has been released earlier this year. The mode range has been extended and received rear wheel drive versions and a number of factory produced specially converted vehicles.
The next generation of Opel Vivaro and Renault Trafic models is covered by the renewed agreement between the two makes. Although they are developed together by Opel and Renault, they are independently marketed and sold through the respective brand’s distribution channels.
Many aspects of the project are still in discussion and yet to reach an agreement. No further details regarding the product specification, investments or business arrangements have been revealed.
