Sergio Marchionne sat down with long-running American news program "60 Minutes" on Sunday evening to give an interview about the future of Chrysler, Fiat's takeover of the company and pinning it all to the Dodge Dart, the first truly new car to come from the partnership.
Marchionne says that when he got to the company all he could see was fear in all of the employees' faces. Chrysler has suffered from years of mismanagement first from Daimler and then from Cerberus Capital Management. The company was the most near death of the American car companies when Fiat took over.
Marchionne says that Chrysler represented the complete opposite of Fiat. It brought a suite of large sedans and pickup trucks that Fiat did not have. More importantly, it also got all of the Chrysler's factories in the US that offered a trained workforce.
You can view the entire interview below. Including the fact that Marchionne has left the Chrysler CEO's office empty preferring to work with the engineers.
