Ever imagined what it would be like to drive a Toyota iQ with about 30% more power and a close-ratio, six-speed manual transmission, well if you are one of a lucky 100 buyers and presumably live in Japan, you will get your chance.
Toyota revealed at the Tokyo Auto Salon a Toyota iQ tuned by GRMN. The car will go into production later this year with a supercharged version of the iQ's 1.3 liter engine producing 128hp and 180Nm of torque. Not only has the engine been worked on, but the GRMN iQ also gets a six-speed manual transmission, upgraded brakes, sports suspension and a dual exhaust.
The body is also modified with a body kit, rear spoiler, sports seats and 16in wheels.
Just 100 of the supercharged iQ's will be produced.
GRMN is not stopping at just the iQ. It is also modifying the Yaris for Toyota with a 178hp turbocharged, 1.5 liter engine that also gets better brakes, an upgraded suspension and 18in wheels.
GRMN also plans to compete in a tuned GT-86 at the 24 Hours of the Nuerburgring later this year.
Both the iQ and Yaris will be available in Japan later this year with no word on either model ever coming to Europe or the US.
