so that the two cars do not overlap. However, he is leaving the final decisions to the engineers.
"That's what I want but it's not me who makes the decision," said Uchiyamada.
As part of Toyota and BMW's agreement to attempt to develop lithium-air batteries for automotive use, the two companies agreed to co-develop a hybrid sports car together as well.
"It's futile if we make something similar [to the 86]", he said.
Uchiyamada comes from the engineering side of Toyota and is best known for being the father of the Prius. He was voted in as Toyota's new chairman last week and replaced Fujio Cho who became honorary chairman.
