is getting ready to become a pioneer in offering models powered by hydrogen fuel cells. The first model equipped with this technology is about to be launched and will be called Mirai.
So far the vehicle was only known as FCVToyota FCV-RJapan, 2012 > present2 photos
, but Toyota, through its President Akio Toyoda unveiled the name of this innovative sedan one day ahead of its official release.
The name Mirai means "future" in Japanese and according to the brand symbolizes a turning point in the automotive industry. According to Toyota the Mirai will allow a safer, greener and easier world for everyone.
Thanks to the hydrogen fuel cell technology, the new Mirai offers the same range of a conventional sedan and, unlike electric vehicles, can be refueled in under five minutes. In terms of environmental issues it also has the advantage of only emitting water vapor.
The Mirai is the result of 10 years of development, millions of kilometers traveled on roads and extensive safety testing. Toyota also focused on creating a vehicle that was fun to drive.
