We might be living in a new Renaissance for car films. Between franchises like "The Fast and the Furious" and "Transformers," plus more intellectual fare like "Drive," it is a great time to see cars on screen.
"Transformers 4" is scheduled to be released on June 27, 2014, and represents a slight departure for the series. None of the starring actors from the previous movies will appear in the fourth installment, although the voices for the returning Transformers will remain the same. Mark Wahlberg stars, and Kelsey Grammar plays the main human villain.

So far the cars for the film are a good mix of American muscle, European sports cars, some heavy trucks and military vehicles
The latest version of Optimus Prime will be played by a highly modified Western Star 4900 semi truck. Western Star is a division of Daimler AG.
Director Michael Bay is refusing to say which character that this Freightliner Argosy Cab-Over truck will play. Freightliner is also a division of Daimler AG, though.
There are two cars named Bumble Bee in the movie. The first is the 1968 Camaro SS, and the other is a 2014 Camaro Concept that is being revealed for the film.
Instead of being portrayed by a new Camaro, Bumblebee will be played by a classic 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS. Although, Bay says that the 2014 Camaro Concept is also called Bumblebee. Perhaps the car will be destroyed and rebuilt in the movie.
This Oshkosh Defense Medium Tactical Vehicle has been given the name the Hound for the movie and will be one of the Autobots.
In the past the Transformers films have not featured too many cars, especially European hyper cars. During production the Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse has been given the character name Drift, but it is subject to change.
The seventh-generation Corvette will also make an appearance in the film. During production it was given the codename Slingshot, but like the Bugatti, its name may change.
The rest of the cars for the movie have not been given names yet. The Aventador is among them, but it shows that the latest film is looking towards Europe for more automotive inspiration this time.
The Pagani Huayra also lacks a name for the film yet, but it fits well with the Aventador and Veyron. Perhaps they will appear as a trio.
The Sonic RS Rally Car is the only racing car that we have seen so far for the film, but there could be more. It will be interesting to see where it fits in.
The film still does not have a title beyond Transformers 4 and has just begun filming. June 27, 2014, has been set for the film's release.
