It is another light weekend of motorsports, but Formula 1 is back this weekend for the Grand Prix of Canada. Otherwise, there are races from NASCAR and the WTCC.
The Grand Prix of Canada at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve is this weekend for a 70-lap race around the 4.361km course. Qualifying starts at 1:00pm local time (5:00pm GMT) on Saturday, June 8. The race begins at 2:30pm (6:00pm GMT) on Sunday, June 9.
The big question for the race is what will happen with the World Driver's Championship. Despite Vettel's lead in the points, there really has not been a dominant driver this season. Both Vettel and Alonso have had two wins this season, and both Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen have scored four podiums. If something happens to Vettel, Raikkonen is the only driver who could take over the drivers' championship.
There has only been one practice session for the race as of this writing, and Paul di Resta, Jenson Button and Romain Grosjean were the three fastest drivers. However, free practice results rarely translate to pole positions or race wins.
NASCAR heads to Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania, for a 160-lap, 400-mile race around the triangular 2.5-mile long track. The race begins at 1:00pm ET (5:00pm GMT) on Sunday, June 9.
Jimmie Johnson still leads the series' championship by 30 points ahead of Carl Edwards.
The WTCC heads to Russia for its first ever race at Moscow Raceway, a 3.955km, 15-corner racetrack that was completed in 2012 that is 80km outside of the city of Moscow. It will hold two, 13-lap races at 1:20pm and 2:20pm local time on June 8.
Yvan Muller still leads the series' championship with 198 points over Gabriele Tarquini who has 118 points.
