It is another relatively weak weekend for racing. There are several regional touring car races like Scandinavian Touring Car Championship on Saturday, August 10, and the British GT Championship on the 10th and 11th, but there are no truly international racing series competing this weekend.
Outside of the races that we usually cover in this column, there is an interesting racing weekend from the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series and American Le Mans Series that will both race at Road America on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The race is meant as a preview for next season when the two series will combine.
The Rolex race runs from 5:00pm to 8:00pm ET on Saturday, and the American Le Mans Series race will be from 3:00pm to 6:00pm ET on Sunday.
Road America is a 4.048-mile, 14-corner road course in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
NASCAR will race at Watkins Glen in New York on August 11 at 1:00pm ET. It will be a 90-lap race around the 2.45-mile layout of the road course with seven corners.
Even if you do not like NASCAR, Watkins Glen is an interesting race to watch because it is one of the two road courses that the series races on.
The championship is still being led by Jimmie Johnson with a 77 point lead over Clint Bowyer, and Carl Edwards in third with seven points less than Bowyer.
Have a nice weekend.
