What to Expect from the Geneva Motor Show

We have been covering what is coming from the Geneva Motor Show for the last month or more. The press days for the show are March 6 and 7. Here is what we have seen and what we expect from the show. From the amount that we have already reported, the Geneva Motor Show is going to be a major spectacle this year with many major launches. Keep checking back here, we will be updating the post whenever there is more news from the show.

No matter what you like, whether it is SUVs, sports cars or green cars, there will be something there if fit your interest.

BMW is bringing a brace of cars to the show ranging from the M Performance diesel versions of the 1-, 5-series, X5 and X6. It will also be showing its new four-door coupe 6-series Gran Coupe and M6.

Of course, Ferrari has its new F12 Berlinetta, but it also has the faster, lighter California.

The three old men of classic Italian styling: Bertone, Pininfarina and Italdesign Giugiaro will all have new concepts. The Bertone is the best looking of the three by evoking the maker's concepts from the 60s and 70s like the Lamborghini Countach while also modernizing them.

Peugeot will have its new bread-and-butter 208 at the show. Not only will we get to see the regular version, but Peugeot will have a GTI concept there is well. The new car is shorter, despite being on the same wheelbase, and cuts weight significantly over the previous generation. This could be the return of the 205 GTI.

There are even some great rumors going around. We here that Lamborghini will have two cars at the show. Lotus will have a new convertible. The Infiniti Emerg-E Concept has been leaked, but we still do not know much about its hybrid, sporty powertrain.

Concepts seem to taking a smaller role this year. Land Rover has its Evoque Convertible, but it and the Infiniti are the most high profile. Ford has a Tourneo Custom van concept to fit below the Transit. The Citroen DS4 Racing Concept shows what a future hot hatch DS4 could look like, and the Mini Clubvan shows what it would look like if Mini built commercial vehicles.

For everyday cars, we are going to see things like the Yaris Hybrid, Kia Cee'd, Volvo V40, Ford B-Max and Skoda Citigo five-door. Plus, there is the quite unattractive Fiat 500L.

Below, we have linked to all of the cars that we have written about that will be at the show in Switzerland. If you missed anything it is a great chance to check it out.

Perhaps the "top ranking" european motorshow, huge selection of big unveilings as usual. Would love to check the F12 in the metal!
