Société d’Ingénierie Française Assystem was founded in 1966, in Paris, France, working in the industrial equipments field. In 1989 the Company diversified with the subsidiary Alphatem (joint venture with Cogema) into nuclear engineering. In 1995 a merger between Atem and Alphatem resulted in the formation of Assystem, which, in 1996 enlarged its activities to aeronautics and automobiles industries. In collaboration with Franco Sbarro, a renowned Swiss designer, the Company developed the Assystem City Car concept. The Assystem is a micro hybrid that, besides its futuristic design, is equipped with a good number of advanced fixtures such as a driver/environment interface and two wheels that can rotate 180º.
