Aston Martin upgraded the V12 Vantage with the new V12 Vantage S with a 55hp boost in power from the 6.0-liter V12 and a new seven-speed paddle-shift gearbox. It shares an engine with the Vanquish and CC100. The S model was launched to replace the previous model.
The boost in power to 565hp and 457lb-ft of torque, up from 420lb-ft, increased the top speed to 205mph. The new car is only available with Aston Martin's Sportshift III AMT seven-speed automatic manual transmission. It uses a hydraulically actuated clutch controlled from steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. It saves 25kg (55lb) over the previous six-speed. It is based on the transmissions from the Vantage GT3 and GTE.
The V12 Vantage S also received new three-stage adaptive damping with Normal, Sport and Track modes. Each mode also adjusts the power steering assistance when selected. The steering ratio was quickened to a 15:1 ratio.
There is a separate Sport button for the throttle mapping and transmission that increases response, shift speeds and opens a valve in the exhaust.
The new V12 Vantage S also got a few upgrades to the aesthetics. The vanes in the grill are made from carbon fiber instead of aluminum, which takes inspiration from the CC100 concept. It also has forged 10-spoke wheels.
The interior received a smaller upgrade with an optional carbon fiber interior pack, which adds carbon fiber trim inside.
