BMW unveiled in its Design Night at Beijing’s Auto China 2010 the Concept Gran Coupé, a four-door coupe with sporty character and showing the future path of BMW’s design.
The BMW Concept Gran Coupé represents a combination of a Gran Turismo with a high-performance sports car. With flat and coupe-like proportions the 4-door vehicle indicates high levels of dynamic performance. Measuring almost 5 metres the Concept Gran Coupé has a stretched appearance.
The front end of the Concept Gran Coupé is dominated by BMW’s characteristic kidney grille that, in this case, has received a flat appearance, with an asymmetrical side view. The front section appears wider thanks to the air inlet that runs back into the side section.
Up to 100 millimeters flatter than the BMW 5 Series or the BMW 7 Series Sedan, the BMW concept has a body height of little less than 1.40 meters. The frameless doors give the BMW Concept Gran Coupé a modern look as the glass surfaces join without being interrupted by columns.
The BMW Concept Gran Coupé further develops the classic design of a notchback sedan where the individual body sections merge into a flat, elongated and at the same time dynamic overall image.
