The MKII was launched in 1992 as a replacement of the MKI. The first series was equipped with a 1.8 litre engine, followed by a 2.2 litre powerplant mounted in the second series.

Available with a manual or automatic transmission, the classic roadster was also offered with leather upholstery and options such as a hardtop.

Production of the car was stopped in 2003 when it was replaced by the MKIII "La Joya".
