Caterham launched the Seven by Kamui Kobayashi special edition for fans of the model in Japan. The vehicle inspired in Formula 1 was designed with the help of the Japanese F1 driver of Caterham's team.
The special edition limited to 10 units, which is sold exclusively in Japan, is based on the 125hp Caterham Seven 250 R. Each unit received a range of additional equipment chosen by Kamui Kobayashi himself.
The amendments to the Seven R 250 include front and rear guards finished in carbon fiber with a unique Caterham green painting. An aluminum tonneau was placed over the passenger seat to transform the vehicle into a single seater and the rear rim protection was also amended to ensure the safety of the driver only.
To visually highlight this Kamui Kobayashi special edition Caterham added new 13 inches black rims, a polished chrome exhaust an a shiny black paint with stripes in matte. In addition, each car shows the number 10 on the front, the number of Kobayashi's Caterham car on the 2014 season of Formula 1.
Inside Caterham resorted to a more extensive use of carbon fiber, combined with a green Caterham lacquered dashboard which will be signed by hand by Kobayashi. The contrasting green seams on the carbon fibre sports seat, the Kobayashi logo on the headrest and green Takata safety belt with four-point fixings complete the interior.
With power coming from the same Ford-Sigma 1.6-liter engine of the Seven 250 R, the Special Edition Kamui Kobaiashi accelerates to 100km/h in 5.9 seconds with a top speed of 196km/h.
