The Corvette Convertible made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in march 2013. Mechanically, the new Corvette convertible is the same as the coupe version that debuted at the North American International Auto Show in January with a 6.2-liter V8 with 450hp and 450lb-ft of torque. The major change is the power soft top that can be operated at up to 30mph (50km/h) and operated on the key fob.

The soft top has a glass rear window and extra sound deadening to make the car more comfortable with the top up.

The convertible top does not necessitate any more stiffening to the Corvette. The only added weight is for the top, the motor to operate it and moving the seat belt anchor points.

“The convertible has been a part of the heart and soul of Corvette since the very beginning in 1953,” said Ed Welburn, GM vice president of global design.
