In order to market his brand and to test the duability of his vehicles, in 1924 André Citroën launched an expedition that should travel across the entire African continent. The transport vehicles used were modified cars based on the Type B2 model and became the first car to cross the Sahara desert.
The journey was 28,000kms long and became known as Croisiere Noire (Black Cruise).
