Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show 1977, the GTS 308 was designed thinking of Ferrari's open-top driving fans. The model was designed in collaboration with Pininfarina and had a Targa roof that could be easily placed and removed. In terms of performance the GTS 308 is similar to the 308 GTB

Except for the dark removable fiber-glass roof and the black louver panels placed instead of the rear windows both models are very similar. The "S" model name refers to "Spider" although it is actually a Targa model.
The 308 GTS was equipped with the same 255hp 3.0-liter V8 engine of the 308 GTB. A total of 3219 units were produced between 1977 and 1980.
