In 1964, Ford unveiled their first ever Mustang, which inherited a lot of parts, such as its chassis, suspension and other components, from other Ford models like the Falcon and the Fairlane. Such technique provided Ford with low development costs.
Ford started production of its 2+2 seat coupé called Mustang in March 1964 and showed it to the public a month later at the New York World’s Fair, where it was even nationally broadcasted by the American television networks.
However, just 5 months after its introduction, the Mustang went through major design and mechanical improvements and by each year it would grow heavier and bigger.
In Germany the Mustang began being sold as the “Ford T-5” because the name ‘Mustang’ has already been registered by a German company.
