GMC is an American manufacturer of trucks, vans, military vehicles and SUV for the North American market. GMC was founded in 1901 by Max Grabowsky with the name "Rapid Motor Vehicle Company". This company was responsibe for building the earliest commercial trucks. The brand was bought 1909 by General Motors, which changed its name to GMC Truck, deriving from General Motors Truck Company.

GMC was in 2007 GM's second-largest-selling vehicle division after Chevrolet, ahead of Pontiac. The models from GMC are also sold in the Middle East.
