The Socière des Automobiles Gobron-Brillié was founded in 1898 by Gustave Gobron and Eugène Brillié, at Boulogne-sur-Seine, France. The Gobron-Brillié’s engines were equipped with a feed system that allowed the use of fuels other than petrol, such as ethanol or even pure alcohol.  Another advanced feature was the double piston system. Gobron-Brillié racing cars had stunning performances with ethanol-fueled engines and achieved the land speed record on three separate occasions in 1903 and 1904. The Gobron-Brillié’s were high quality, elegant automobiles, and won the Great Gold Medal at the 1900 Paris World Fair and the Prix d'Élégance at Monte Carlo Contest. Construction of automobiles was interrupted during WWI which was resumed in 1921 but the Company, resisting mass production techniques, could not face the competition and closed its doors in 1930.
