Guy Motors Ltd. was established by Sydney Guy in Fallings Park, Wolverhampton, U.K., in 1914. The company started by building lorries and during the WWI aircraft engines. After WWI they decided to produce luxury cars and in 1928 Guy took over Star Motor Company to increase the car business but this company proved a financial failure and was closed in 1932. By then Guy Motors commenced developing and producing military vehicles and during WWII the company dedicated to bus construction once sales of passenger cars had dropped to zero. Guy motors was yet another victim of the war times. Facing serious financial difficulties in the 1950’s the Company went bankrupt and was bought by Jaguar in 1961 when the Company’s name was changed to Guy Motors (Europe) Ltd only to revert to Guy Motors Ltd in 1966. Porduction of buses with the Guy brand was discontinued in 1864. In 1968 the company was encompassed by British Leyland Motor Corporation. In 1982 Guy Motors' plant was closed down.
