HDT started as Holden’s un-official racing team that made its debut race at Bathurst 1968. In 1980, Peter Brock bought the team and started HDT Special Vehicles to comply with the race regulations that required the production of 500 road versions of the racing car. HDT became the fifth largest car manufacturer in Australia. In 2007, Peter Champion bought the company and launched the Heritage Retro series.
