Hindustan Motors Limited (HML), is an India's pioneering car building company. It was established by Braj Mohan Birla, at Port Okha in Gujarat , India, in 1942, but the first car built by Hindustan was launched only in 1949. The plant was relocated to Uttarpara in West Bengal in 1948. Hindustan produced passenger cars under license of Morris and multi utility vehicles. The company also introduced a Sports Utility Vehicle under license of Mitsubishi Motors, Japan. The ratio quality/price turned the Industan’s quite popular in India.
