Honda introduced the first generation of the S2000 on April 1999. The Honda SSM that the company had shown to the public at the 1995 Tokyo Motor Show was the concept car from which the S2000 would be made. It was specially conceived to celebrate the company’s 50th birthday.
Since the 1965 Honda S800, the Japanese brand hadn’t produced any other roadster and with the new S2000 the “S” line of lightweight sports cars is carried on.
This car largely benefits from Honda’s most advanced racing technology.
