August Horch & Cie, by August Horch on November 14, 1899. at Ehrenfeld, near Cologne. On May, 10th, 1904 he founded the Horch & Cie. Motorwagen-Werke AG. On July 16, 1909, August Horch, after troubles with Horch chief financial officer, founded his second company, the August Horch Automobilwerke GmbH in Zwickau. In 1910 because of a dispute of the Hoch name, the company’s name was changed to Audiwerke GmbH. In 1932 Audi merged with Horch, Wanderer and DKW and formed the Auto Union Group. The Horch brand was discontinued in 1958. In 1964 Auto Union was bought by the Volkswagen Group.
