IKA (or Industrias Kaiser Argentina S.A) was founded in Santa Isabel, Córdoba, Argentina, in 1956, as a result of a joint venture between the Government of Argentina and Kaiser Motors (USA). The company started by building Kaiserjeeps, the first passenger cars (AMC models) being launched in 1958 . In 1967 Ika entered a partnership with Renault and changed its name to IKA-Renault. In 1970 Ika sold its shares to Renaultand in 1975 the brand IKA was dropped, the company becoming Renault Argentina S.A.
