The Innocenti Company was founded by Ferdinando Innocenti in Milan, Italy, in 1920 and became famous in the pos-WWII era for their Lambretta scooters. In 1961 the Company started building small cars under license of British Leyland Motor Corporation, the latter having purchased the Company in 1972. In 1975, De Tomaso Group took over the Innocenti Company and changed its name to Nuova Innocenti. Late 1980’s the Company was bought by Fiat and remained in car building until 1993. The brand was dropped in 1996.
