Iso Rivolta Company was founded by Enzo Rivolta in Genoa, Italy, in 1939, under the name Isothermos and produced refrigeration units. In 1942 it moved to Bresso and engaged in the manufacture ofmotorscooters and two-stroke motorcycle. Soon the company was also building microcars (the Isetta became famous) and stylish luxury cars. In 1953 the company's name was changed to Iso Autoveicoli S.p.a. and finally, in 1973, another change of name, this time to Iso Motors. The big, high quality, high performace Iso cars were well appreciated but the comapny did not survive the death of its founder in 1966 and the 1973 oil crisis and went bankrupt in 1974.There was an attempt to revive the brand in 1993 with the Iso Grifo 90, and again in 1996, with the Iso Grifo 96, but these prototypes never reached prodution.
