Kia completed its model design revampage with the presentation of the third generation of the Sedona MPV at the 2014 New York Motor Show. The model got a more “European-inspired” design, which has been part of design boss Peter Schreyer approach.
The Sedona received a larger, more prominent corporate front-end. Together with its muscular front design, the MPV look is enhanced by the new roof-mounted spoiler at the rear. Compared to its previous generation, the Sedona is 40mm longer. The exterior is completed wit 19-inch alloy wheels.
The model can transport up to eight passengers, depending on the ordered configuration. The Sedona has been fitted with many storage solutions such as removable slide-forward seats and a centre-console storage space feature, alongside retractable lower leg rests in the second row of seats.
The MPV's third generation is the first car from Kia to offer its next-generation UVO infotainment and telematics system. Besides the apps for navigation and music, the system is suited to use Apple's Siri 'Eyes Free' technology.
The interior was also fitted with soft-touch furnishings, which includes a new anti-bacterial and anti-static fabrics in the cabin. The top-level SXL trim features Nappa leather trim.
The Sedona was built on a completely new chassis. According to Kia the new structure is made from 76 per cent high-strength steel, which together with a new suspension configuration shoulf improve the ride and handling of the car.
Under the hood, the Sedona is powered by a new Lambda Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) 3.3-liter V6 engine which replaced the 3.5-liter V6 found in the previous generation Sedona. The 3.3-liter engine delivers more power than its predecessor, boasting 276 horsepower.
